Red Pants are the duo Jason Lambeth and Elsa Nekola from Madison, Wisconsin. The two have been making music together for the last five years, with Elsa mostly on drums and Jason on mostly everything else. If you follow us you should have checkd their lates album, Not Quite There Yet, which was out in 2023 via Meritorio Records. We introduced Red Pants through their great TRISTE© Mixtape (Episode 133) and now, a few days ahead of the release date of their latest EP, Pale Shadows, we have the honour and opportunity to host the world premiere of a lovely little video supporting Proto Punk, the second track from the EP.

What Jason Lambeth Says: “Proto Punk is a blast of energy telling the story of me recording a song in my bedroom that may or may not have really happened.
This is the third video that my daughter and I have made in our kitchen. The previous two were made in 2021 and 2022. It’s really fun to go back and watch the other videos (two versions of our song Another Haircut) and see how much she has grown in three years.“

The EP: Pale Shadows
“The EP is made up of songs that we started during the recording of our last album (Not Quite There Yet). The first two songs (Into the Deep End and Proto Punk) were almost on the album, but we cut them to keep the album’s run time to a decent length. The whole EP came about when I thought that I had lost all of these leftover recordings. We use an old laptop (circa 2009) to do a lot of our recording and suddenly it wouldn’t start up. After I was able to bring it back to life, I rescued all of the songs that I had foolishly not backed up. We put some finishing touches on our five favorites and put together the EP.
