Smokey Angle Shades are: Pat Dam Smyth and Brian Russell, from Northern Ireland, Ned Crowther from England and Antonio Feola from Italy.
The group was formed when members of The Fools, 747s, Pat Dam Smyth and The Fernweh joined forces in Berlin for a week of shows and song writing that laid out the blueprints for their sound and approach: an appreciation of a good tune, blended vocal harmonies, and a dynamic stage show. The band continued to write new music and tour the UK, Europe and America, building a cult following after festival appearances at Glastonbury, South By Southwest, the Goodlife Experience and Secret Garden Party.
The band’s debut album, Shades of Joy was released in 2015 to wide acclaim and was selected by Cerys Matthew’s as her BBC 6 music artist pick. Now the group is back with a new single and album on the way, and their own record label, Europa Sun.
Smokey Angle Shades new single, And You Tied A Ribbon On It will be released on Friday 7th April on their new label, Europa Sun. It is the band’s first release in eight years since their debut album Shades of Joy in 2015. Featuring dreamy vintage keys, fuzz wah guitar and a chorus drenched in the legendary ROLAND VP-330 Vocoder.
Singer and bass player, Ned Crowther says:”The song delivers a simple message of love, loyalty, trust and commitment, all tied up with ribbon on it!“.
The track was written, performed and recorded by Smokey Angle Shades at
London’s Fish Factory Studios.
And You Tied A Ribbon On It will be out April 7th on Europa Sun. Look HERE and HERE for more information on Smokey Angle Shades.
