Danxgerous is the solo project of Daniela “Dan” Mariti, born from the meeting of Italian and Czech roots, a musical family heritage, and the curiosity of a young artist eager to explore the intimacy of the soul through sound. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Danxgerous crafts a musical universe suspended between indie-rock, dreamy pop, and contemporary indie-folk, where light and melancholy intertwine to create emotional landscapes that are both luminous and profound. After studying music theory and harmony at Saint Louis in Rome and performing with the band In June (with whom she released singles and an EP, played prestigious stages such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica, and appeared on RAI television broadcasts) Danxgerous embarked on her solo career in 2023 with We Were Never Being Boring (WWNBB). Her debut singles Keys, Sides, Cold Yet Dazzling, and Venom marked the beginning of an intimate and cinematic journey, culminating in SXSW 2024, where she performed four shows including the International Day Stage, as well as a series of concerts across Europe. In 2025, she dedicated herself to writing, recording, and producing her debut album Old Soul, created in El Granada, California with the support of Mara Graziano, Samuele Palazzi and Riccardo Cacciarella and released October 16, via WWNBB.
What She Says:“I’m proud of this song for the imagery that it conveys: I remember writing bits of the lyrics when I was in Prague, which is my second home as my mother was born there. All those images of tongues of fire, chromatic fragments etc… are visions of the city at night. It was late summer and I was dealing with the pressure of yet another year starting with nothing planned ahead. The city comforted me, the stories hidden in the streets made me realize it is important to just go and live life. But then, I finished the song back home, in Rome, one morning: the beautiful and inspiring images were gone, and what was left was the fear that no one and nothing can define your future, not even an otherworldly figure such as the clairvoyant. The track is so much about the pressure about the future, need of productivity and the mind’s own entanglement in being one’s worst enemy when it comes to anxiety and performance pressure.“
“Leo Rising is a song that has been with me for a long time, before the album was even an idea. I remember vividly writing it on my balcony in Rome, looking at this wonderful full moon, which is an element that always sparks some creativity in me. I feel deeply connected to it or her (as it is full of feminine power). I was feeling discouraged about my dreams and ambitions, after 2020 and 2021 when the world looked like a far away place and I felt as imprisoned as ever before. That full moon made me realize that I was my own first obstacle on the path I chose to undertake; because I couldn’t word my feelings, my needs and my real desires, for fear of disappointing others and for fear of leaving my comfort zone. So it made me realize I wasn’t acting as brave as I thought I was and that I was blaming the outside world for the lackings of my inner world. So, why not also find strength in the outside world, and blame it on the moon if I finally speak up?“
Her Mixtape:
Adrianne Lenker – Not A Lot Just Forever
This is the perfect opening for a mixtape made by Danxgerous as it is a smooth encounter with both sides of what I love the most in songs: the sharp knife of a voice as a spectrum of emotions and pain, and words that speak of love and devotion and what makes us eternal, that is to say our common journey and how we can make the best out of it.
Hayley Williams – Parachute
Hayley Williams is one of my biggest inspirations, and she’s top of my list when it comes to a vocalist and songwriter. I’ve been listening to Paramore since I was a teenager and I never gave them up. They’re a huge part of my being, and the latest solo project by the frontwoman Hayley really struck yet another chord inside me and it fits perfectly to the struggles of being an adult woman.
Wednesday – Wound Up here (By Holding On)
I love some edge, especially when it comes to the stage. I love Wednesday’s songwriting and music genre so much, it alters something in my brain chemistry which inspires me to be better and to be more daring in my own composition style. They’re a new discovery for me but they tell a lot about my identity at the moment.
Kate Bush – The Big Sky
The whimsical is so attractive to me, and the queen of whimsical is definitely Kate Bush. I found my own voice in hers when finding out about this magical album and I realised there’s no such thing as “too much” and that singing is like painting: so many colours, different techniques, the strokes of the brush convey emotions.
Phoebe Bridgers – Smoke Signals
Phoebe Bridgers was one of my first encounters with singer-songwriters, she opened a huge door on songwriting for me: I realised I could find an ally in my guitar and that there was a whole other world to be discovered with fingerpicking and arpeggios.
Placebo – Special Needs
“Remember me, whenever noses start to bleed, remember me, special needs”. This one sentence really represents how much I love being melodramatic.
Florence + The Machine – King
I love the meaning of this song, as it tells about the struggle of the artist, the beauty and the pain of being passionate about music and creativity, which gives you so much but also takes things away from you. When creativity defines you, what happens when it’s gone?
Elliot Smith – Between The Bars
A great closure to this mixtape, as it really represents a circle in my opinion. From Adrianne to Elliot, another iridescent voice that can merge to the weather surrounding and which can always give you space and time to sit on your thoughts and feelings like no one else can ever do.
Her debut Album: Old Soul

“Before writing this record, I never expected it to hold this much meaning. The songs gradually revealed a story I didn’t realise I was telling. I’m so proud of the magic it holds and conveys. In my mind, the album exists like a huge painting where countless things are happening at once. Every time you look at it, another detail appears. I wanted to bring that painting to life and ask how something so imaginative could survive in the real world. Because that’s really the question I was asking myself: how can I survive in the real world? These songs helped me find the answer.“
