The Band:
Wet Leg are a British duo, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. They come from the Isle of Wight and are signed to Domino Records. Following almost a decade of friendship (Teasdale and Chambers met at college, and played in various bands and as fledgling solo musicians on their native Isle Of Wight), the pair took a ferris wheel trip at 2019’s End Of The Road festival. It is here where they found the embryonic elements of Wet Leg after seeing IDLES storm the main stage that evening.
Arming themselves with guitars, effervescent imaginations and a shared love of the The Ronettes and Jane Birkin, through to Ty Segall and Bjork, they set about making some recordings of their own. In June (2021), the British duo unveiled their debut single for Domino, Chaise Lonuge. Reception around the track was strong, generating some buzz around their name. The song, which has racked up 3 million streams and a million video views, was produced by Jon McMullen and mixed by Alan Moulder while the music video was directed by the band themselves.
Wet Dream
The Song:
“Wet Dream is a breakup song; it came about when one of my exes went through a stage of texting me after we’d broken up telling me that ‘he had a dream about me.”
There’s a strange charm to Wet Dream. Those indie rock riffs with insistent beats sound easy on the ear, yet they keep an alien edge. Think Elastica or The Breeders and you’ll be close to the effect and energy of this song.
The Video:
The video — directed by Rhian Teasdale — involves the duo and their band belatedly realizing that they have lobster claws for hands as they’re about to eat lobster. The highlight is when Teasdale holds up her claws and exclaims (clearly to those who read lips), “I’m a fucking lawbsta!”
“Beat me up (beat me up)
Count me in (count me in)
Three, two, one (three, two, one)
Let’s begin
Here we go (here we go)
Here we go (here we go)
Here we go, here we go, here we go
I was in your wet dream
Driving in my car
Saw you at the side of the road
There’s no one else around
You’re touching yourself
Touching yourself
Touching your
Touching yourself
Touching yourself
You said, “Baby, do you want to come home with me?
I’ve got Buffalo ’66 on DVD”

Here we go (here we go)
Here we go (here we go)

I was in your wet dream
Driving in my car
What makes you think you’re good enough to think about me
When you’re touching yourself
Touching yourself
Touching your
Touching yourself
Touching yourself
You climb onto the bonnet
And you’re licking the windscreen
I’ve never seen anything so obscene
It’s enough to make a girl blush
It’s enough, it’s enough to make a girl blush
It’s enough, it’s enough, it’s enough
It’s enough, it’s enough, it’s enough
It’s enough (to make a girl blush), it’s enough, it’s enough
It’s enough, it’s enough, it’s enough
It’s enough, it’s enough (to make a girl blush), it’s enough, it’s enough
Beat me up (beat me up)
