Minru is the musical project of Swedish-born and Berlin-based songwriter and guitarist Caroline Blomqvist.
After attending music high school in Gothenburg and playing in bands during her teens, Blomqvist later moved to Germany. As well as enjoying walks at Tempelhofer Feld and coffee at Leuchtstoff café, she performed with Tuvaband, Adna, and Tara Nome Doyle and played in Berlin venues Loophole and Schokoladen. With the passing of time she felt a growing urge to find an outlet for her own songs; Minru was the answer.
Before signing for the prestigious Berlin label Morr Music, she had her debut EP, Yearnings out on Pacaya Records in 2019.
Her debut album Liminality will be out 1st of July on Morr Music.
Finished and self-produced at a Berlin-Lichtenberg recording studio alongside musical friends (Povel Widestrand, Tobias Blessing, Sunniva Lilian Shaw Of-Tordarroch, Marlene Becher and Liv Solveig Wagner), Liminality is beautifully detailed and rich like the folk of her Swedish roots. The album, built around winding layers of acoustic guitar, piano, and strings, is a surprisingly uplifting and stirring testament to Blomqvist’s own suffering from the passing of someone close to her.

(Make Me a) TRISTE© Mixtape Episode 71: My Raining Stars
My Raining Stars was formed by Thierry Haliniak as a solo project in 1998. In the early 90s, Thierry was in a band called Nothing To Be Done that performed with artists such as The Boo Radleys, Adorable, and Moose. Being raised by much of the music of those times, especially influenced by the legendary c86 era and bands from Creation and Sarah Records, Thierry has a knack of writing classic pop songs. For the next 10 years, Thierry recorded demos on his 4-track tape recorder before Didier Frahier (ex-Nothing To Be Done, E-grand) offered to help re-record and re-arranged some of his best tracks. In 2008, these songs would become My Raining Star’s debut album From St Saviour To Quickwell. In November 2020, he released a digital EP called Obvious Reasons with featured song lyrics by his friend Gilles Ramey. Just after the EP release, Thierry formed a new side-project called Meyverlin with Gilles Ramey and Philippe Lavergne (ex-Freluquets). In October 2021, they released their debut album Daily Events on the French indie label Too Good To Be True. During this time, Thierry grew closer to Casper Blond (Ethics), a talented young Danish multi-instrumentalist, who offered to help him record real drums and bass on his songs as well as mix and master them. In early 2022, Thierry had completed the ten songs that will become the second My Raining Stars album 89 Memories. The album will be released on June 17, 2022 by Shelflife (US) and Disco de Kirlian (Spain). 89 Memories is an album particularly close to Thierry’s heart and one he is immensely proud of.

Winter Moves are an Edinburgh and Glasgow based-band founded over Facetime in 2021 by songwriters Fraser Macintyre (Linburn) and Leo Bargery (Mt. Doubt). Born in during the pandemic lockdowns in Scotland, Winter Moves grew out of a remote friendship; sending ideas for songs, full songs and everything in between back and forth. This creative outlet was a real source of positivity for both writers and soon a real collection of songs were starting to form. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bargery made the most of moving into a house with a piano. Sending MacIntyre voice notes as song after song took shape, Bargery received thoughts then ideas in return until one sketch was returned with a full arrangement in tow. MacIntyre, starting to build a makeshift studio in the living room of his Glasgow flat, threw a few of his own songs into the melting pot, and it quickly began apparent that the duo had stumbled their way into a new project of equal priority to their solo ventures. Currently they are piecing together their debut EP.

cut the kid will be the first album by phoneswithchords, stage name of Arthur Alligood, singer songwriter from Tennessee. He defines his debut album, which will be released on cassette on the fabulous Z Tapes on May 13th, as “songs about stuff that happened.” And Z Tapes gave us an absolutely incredible bedroom songwriter. His songs are understated and, frankly, just magnificent. Intimate, honest stories of lost love, just total heartbreakers.
Arthur Alligood aka phoneswithchords takes you to a pure beautiful homely world. All the songs on his debut album were recorded in his living room on a really old Mac computer with a cheap microphone and an even cheaper parlor guitar named Blanche.
Enough said. Just listen!
