Cosmic Crooner – The Perks Of Being A Hypocrite

Più precisamente, apprendo da Wikipedia che un lounge lizard altri non è che “a man who frequents social establishments with the intention of seducing a woman with his flattery and deceptive charm.(…) In Europe, he subsequently evolved into what is now known as the gigolo.”

(Make Me A) TRISTE© Mixtape Episode 108: Brook Terrace

Brook Terrace

Brook Terrace is Californian (but with Italian origins) Zachary Vito, a man who, to make his debut album, quit his job and used unpaid leave in order to fund a plane ticket to the UK just to work with Bill Ryder-Jones, who had just announced he’d opened a home studio. Vito was involved in many from the San Francisco area, including Union Pacific, Sonny and the Sunsets, Blades of Joy and April Magazine. When he discovered Billy Ryder-Jones (co-founded of The Coral, and solo artist, writing both his own albums and film scores, as well as producing records for other artists) specifically his 2016 album, West Kirby County Primary, Zachary fell in love with his music which served as a soundtrack to the artist’s life. So, after seeing an Instagram announcement, Zach took a chance and sent over some demos. Ryder-Jones invited him to spend a productive week of recording sessions in his home studio.  Vito found himself in the small seaside town of West Kirby, delicately breathing life into already beautiful songs alongside producer and songwriter Bill Ryder-Jones. Brook Terrace was born.

Smokey Angle Shades – And You Tied A Ribbon On It (single premiere)

Smokey Angle Shades are: Pat Dam Smyth and Brian Russell, from Northern Ireland, Ned Crowther from England and Antonio Feola from Italy.
The group was formed when members of The Fools, 747s, Pat Dam Smyth and The Fernweh joined forces in Berlin for a week of shows and song writing that laid out the blueprints for their sound and approach: an appreciation of a good tune, blended vocal harmonies, and a dynamic stage show. The band continued to write new music and tour the UK, Europe and America, building a cult following after festival appearances at Glastonbury, South By Southwest, the Goodlife Experience and Secret Garden Party.
The band’s debut album, Shades of Joy was released in 2015 to wide acclaim and was selected by Cerys Matthew’s as her BBC 6 music artist pick. Now the group is back with a new single and album on the way, and their own record label, Europa Sun.

Heartworms – A Comforting Notion

Francesco Amoroso per TRISTE©

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers.

(T.S. Elliot – The Waste Land)
